On July 23, Brightline Interactive and Discovery Communications hosted ROOFTOP REALITIES, the VR/AR Association DC chapter event at the District’s Wharf . Attendees from a variety of backgrounds such as developers, government, media, and consulting joined to test the latest VR and AR demos from local companies from the local DC community. Among the demos was an AR enabled, virtual champagne spray booth, Google Earth and an emergency evacuation on HTC Vive, a UFC fighting experience and Discovery’s new shark week content on Samsung Gear, and a Jurassic World experience on Oculus Go. At an intermission from the demos, Discovery spoke on how they implemented a VR component within one of the largest media companies in the world, the hurdles they had to overcome, and their plans to make their 360 video content more interactive.
Through events such as this, Brightline Interactive and the DC chapter of VR/AR Association are leading the way to more exposure and adoption of virtual reality and augmented reality technology within the Nation’s capitol.
